Position purpose

We are looking for a person who will bring energy creativity and enthusiasm to this role. The Technical Sales role is a pivot point between the Customers, the Sales team, the R&D Team as well as Manufacturing. The ideal candidate will be a hybrid – with expertise gained from a background in both sales as well as either chemistry, engineering, or product design.

Reporting to the General Manager Sales and Marketing you will be embedded in both the Sales and R&D teams.

The successful candidate will be a great communicator and able to present technical solutions effectively to stakeholders at all levels. They will build sound and credible relationships, not only face to face but also over video. Aligning the solutions of EPL with the client’s goals. Using their work product to create technical documents including 3D drawings. This role will be a customer advocate driving a high level of customer satisfaction while maintaining and growing business profitability.

They will provide technical support to the Business Development Managers and help develop quotations and client proposals. Liaising with industry bodies and representing EPL on technical committees they will become the go to person within EPL for knowledge.

Key duties

Work with our clients and the sales teams to turn the customers ideas into reality.

Liaise and manage the design process with the Global Sales Team, R&D Team and Manufacturing Team.

Develop design requirements and conceptual designs.

Work with technicians and other engineers performing production to create simple and easy to interpret processes

Support the trial and manufacturing teams in qualification testing and production of new designs.

Create detailed engineering drawings for the R&D and Sales team

Skills & experience

  • You will have a high level of customer focus, knowledge of the sales process and experience in managing the customer journey.
  • Skilled in relationship management and retention, you will be motivated to win new business.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in either a manufacturing, chemistry, product engineering, or construction role
  • A Tertiary qualification preferred
  • Strong experience working with a CAD program
  • You will have strong negotiation and relationship management skills, and the confidence to back your decisions.
  • The ability to search for, locate, extract, organise, evaluate, and use or present information that is relevant to a particular topic
  • You will come with a strong technical aptitude and a methodical approach. You are analytical and numerical by nature, with excellent problem-solving skills, being able to balance between technical and commercial realities
  • With Project Management experience, you are well organised and able to thrive in sales environment and results driven. Able to work autonomously effectively
  • Computer literate across MS Office as well as CRM programs like Salesforce, Pipedrive and project management software like MS Project and Monday.com
  • Posses excellent questioning skills
  • Be able to develop a value proposition with client collaboration
  • Happy with regular out of town and international travel (when the borders open!)
  • Have full drivers’ licence
  • Must hold New Zealand citizenship or New Zealand Permanent Residency
